Hypersthene Palm Stone

This is a quality Hypersthene Palm Stone or rather a selection of them. Unfortunately the photos struggle to show flashes of purple grey or silver grey! So below is a video to help you see this and also to see the different qualities of each pebble. It is not as high grade as the cabochon pendants I have, but then again the price is better per gram.

This is a delightful but much under rated crystal. This stone has saved me from staying in my confused mind when I could not find the flow in life and the surrender. This crystal enhances self-esteem and emotional expression. It helps overcoming shyness and social awkwardness. It combats irritability and critical nature and provides discriminating judgement.

Silvery hypersthene is a sister crystal to the golden Bronzite which we only have as a large pyramid, tumbles and bracelets as again most people don’t get to hear about it. Similarly there is little of this silvery crystal in any shape either.

• Group A looks great in colour and shape but has not much flash.
• Group D is one of the better shining pebbles but is thinner than the others. This is because it had a fault so I took it to lapidary club where I ground off the fault and re-polished to reveal a fabulous flash instead!

All are variations based on how much iron is present. They are found in igneous and some metamorphic rocks as well as in stony and iron meteorites.

Special Notes

• Hypersthene can be muddled with amphibole mineral hornblende. It is also called  orthopyroxene.
• Bronzite can be muddled with bastite.
• Enstatite is one of the few silicate minerals that have been observed in crystalline form outside the Solar System.
• Used in jewellery and small decorative objects but seems to have no other use.
