Beautiful clarity with this Rutilated Quartz Point. It is a clear quartz with golden rutile needles. Some polishing at the top to let you see within more easily. I took a few close up photos so you could see the needles better and enjoy the natural patterning on the sides!

I have had some wonderful “getting to the bottom of things”, and ah-ha moments around situations I was stuck on while holding a crystal like this from my own collection. And then the gold filled me with new truths, new consciousness and a move forward with renewed energy. Great stone when planning personal and business life.

It is the last of the large golden rutilated quartz points or clusters we have left.

Geological Identification

It is a brown or grey coloured variety of Quartz.
The smoky colour results from free silicon and aluminium naturally irradiated.

Special Notes

Most people know the brown variety. But geologically there is also grey smoky quartz
Unfortunately more and more quartz is being artificially gamma irradiated. You will only know by being suspicious as to the mine it came from or the matrix of minerals with it e.g. be careful of cheap smoky quartz from the USA or China - usually looks unusually dark and opaque. 2018 update
- Even Brazil is now radiating their smoky quartz and doing a good job of it. Graham and I couldn't tell the difference but thankfully the suppliers were honest and we avoided getting caught.
- Customer advised that he bought irradiated smoky quartz and that the colour faded within a year.
Note: Morian Quartz is a very dark natural quartz.
