Huge Star Rose Quartz Sphere A+ Grade

This is a huge Rose Quartz Sphere from Madagascar with star formation. It was the best quality of the three with very minor inclusions. To get such a large pieces without the inclusions is hard as the crystal grows as a mass rather and the time to grow mean a lot of geological “stuff happened to it”.

It is far better quality than you find elsewhere as its colour is strong and a lack of inclusions. Plus it has the star shimmer. Find a velveteen cushion to lay it on and it will be Queen of your Home or Office.

Star rose quartz is the same stone as rose quartz, but it displays a distinct six-rayed star effect (asterism) when a light source hits it at a specific angle.

Special Notes

• It most often grows in masses - never even finding a leading edge of crystal points.
• Occasionally found in crystal cluster form and was officially given own name of Pink Quartz but that has now gone.
• Rose quartz occurs in pegmatites - it forms at very high temperatures, between 400 and 700 degrees Centigrade.
• The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese, in the material.
  • Recent X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the color is due to thin microscopic fibers of possibly dumortierite within the quartz.
• "Star" Rose Quartz has microscopic rutile needles which produces an asterism in transmitted light.
• The crystalline form in elestial in form was originally not called rose quartz and was called Pink Quartz.
