Here are larger than normal forms of Red Calcite specimens which I discovered recently these have a new name of Aztec Calcite or Inca Calcite because of their earthy, shamanic look and energy and they are Mexican.
While these are normally called roughs many of these show leading edge crystal growth. These are splendid examples of this in colour and form.
This video gives more close ups and discussion of what is being seen. The shiny sheen comes from it being acid washed after extraction.
