Rhodochrosite Pendant – silver

Here are two lovely examples of rhodochrosite pendants and while they are not heart shaped they are a more flexible look being organically shaped. The patterning in this crystal is lovely and it will stimulate your imagination and therefore your clairvoyance/intuition. Note: Precious stone quality is actually a pure warm pink colour – you can see that colour showing as one of the tones in the patterning. But if there is no patterns then it is semi-precious/precious grade and major $$$.

Patterning is actually from impurities, but they too add their healing charm.

• Colour: Pink, rose, rose-red, red, cherry-red, yellow, yellowish gray, gray, cinnamon-brown, white, may be banded; colourless to pale rose in transmitted light.

Special Notes

• In its (rare) pure form, it is typically a rose-red color and is considered semi precious if not precious stone.
• Impure specimens can be shades of pink to pale brown.
• It can be muddled with Rhodonite as both have manganese and thus a similar look especially in gem crystal form.
• As a biomineral, it may be formed by some fungi, e.g., Lichenothelia, during oxidation (e.g., Burford et al., 2003).
• Rhodochrosite occurs as a hydrothermal vein mineral with other manganese minerals in the silver mines of Romania where it was first found.
• Banded rhodochrosite is mined in Capillitas, Argentina.
