We don’t know where the garnet and rose quartz comes from as they were shaped in Chine.

It is nice to expand our range to offer these bags of natural crystals. They are completely natural and in A Grade. We checked that the smoky’s are not the artificially gamma radiated quartz from a factory. The rose is not coloured. Be aware that the size of the mini tumbles are about the same as my pinkie nail for smoky and smaller for the other two.

Geological Identification

It is a brown or grey coloured variety of Quartz.
The smoky colour results from free silicon and aluminium naturally irradiated.

Special Notes

Most people know the brown variety. But geologically there is also grey smoky quartz
Unfortunately more and more quartz is being artificially gamma irradiated. You will only know by being suspicious as to the mine it came from or the matrix of minerals with it e.g. be careful of cheap smoky quartz from the USA or China - usually looks unusually dark and opaque. 2018 update
- Even Brazil is now radiating their smoky quartz and doing a good job of it. Graham and I couldn't tell the difference but thankfully the suppliers were honest and we avoided getting caught.
- Customer advised that he bought irradiated smoky quartz and that the colour faded within a year.
Note: Morian Quartz is a very dark natural quartz.
