I mainly intuit this crystal to ground all those lovely thoughts in an “in the mind” personality like me. I see it as rooting rather than just grounding your energy. And therefore they can relax, be more level-headed, and receive new ideas. It gently neutralises negative vibrations. It is detoxifying on all levels this then prompts elimination of the digestive system.

I know when I have a thinker in the shop when I intuit smoky quartz. Most are the "intellectual" even if working spiritual and/or are someone going through a lot of change in their mental thinking/perspectives/beliefs, and all that lovely thinking is create a lot of head energy and no room for more to come in. So smoky quartz brings that "ah ha" energy down and anchors it into the person roots (below the Earth Star Chakra). So now that they are re-balanced energeticallly, they are ready to take on more mental insights, information, etc. They are studying, or spending a lot of time in their heads over various matters and smoky quartz is to pull all that lovely energy down from the mind / the mental body and anchor it into the Earth. That way the person can the "walk the talk" e.g. of new spiritual insights and not just keep thinking about it. Or a whole lot of new energy can come in as the mental body has been cleared to receive more and you are no longer feeling unbalanced or tired.

Geological Identification

• It is a brown or grey coloured variety of Quartz.
• The smoky colour results from free silicon and aluminium naturally irradiated.

Special Notes

• Most people know the brown variety. But geologically there is also grey smoky quartz
• Unfortunately more and more quartz is being artificially gamma irradiated. You will only know by being suspicious as to the mine it came from or the matrix of minerals with it e.g. be careful of cheap smoky quartz from the USA or China - usually looks unusually dark and opaque. 2018 update
  • Even Brazil is now radiating their smoky quartz and doing a good job of it. Graham and I couldn't tell the difference but thankfully the suppliers were honest and we avoided getting caught.
  • Customer advised that he bought irradiated smoky quartz and that the colour faded within a year.
• Note: Morian Quartz is a very dark natural quartz.
