I worked with sodalite in a big way as I broke through co-depence issues within my family. Co-dependance is where you do not think you are good enough unless someone else tells you are. You doubt your own wisdom and go with what others tell you to think and say. It goes hand in hand with not feeling comfortable to speak your emotional truth to others. As it calms, releases core fears/phobias/guilt/control mechanisms then inner wisdom, self-esteem & self-acceptance come forward to break co-dependence patterns. It also aids going into “Wise woman” life stage - empty nest, loss of fertility. Sodalite is hugely important to help you speak you emotional truth, something that often is abandoned in the family dynamics of co-dependence. Past  Buddhist teacher said this pattern was a big problem for Western people (he really meant those of European descent). Until you honestly allow yourself to feel, to acknowledge your feelings and then speak them to others as may need to happen e.g. "what I am hearing is making me angry so I am going off for an hour to cool down", then you are cutting yourself off from your intuition and honest, loving connections with people.

• A light, relatively hard yet fragile mineral, sodalite is named after its sodium content.

  • Some K substitutes for Na in the grey-white Afghan sodalites.
• Colours: Usually blue, it can be grey, yellow, green, or pink and is often mottled with white veins or patches.
• Lustre: Vitreous, Greasy
• Mohs Hardness: 5½ - 6
• Crystal System: Isometric

Special Notes

• Similar to lazurite and lapis lazuli, sodalite rarely contains pyrite and its blue colour is more like traditional royal blue rather than ultramarine.
