Enjoy these Sodalite Eggs are a beautiful mid blue with white combination. Interesting they are so soft that I wonder if the balls had to be hand polished – they have that bumpiness that usually signifies this. Use the photo in my hand as the more accurate guide to colour.

One has a bit of tan which is an inclusive material – possibly a mica. Look closely at the photos as each has quite a different patterning. Discount on left one is because I don’t think the quality is high. This variety has become really expensive recently and I suspect this mine is running out. They sit lovely on a medium stand.

This crystal is great to banish bad habits and negative thinking patterns especially breaking co-dependency on others. It encourages rational thought, objectivity and intuition, as well as verbalisation of feelings.

A light, relatively hard yet fragile mineral, sodalite is named after its sodium content.

- Some K substitutes for Na in the grey-white Afghan sodalites.
Colours: Usually blue, it can be grey, yellow, green, or pink and is often mottled with white veins or patches.
Lustre: Vitreous, Greasy

Special Notes

Similar to lazurite and lapis lazuli, sodalite rarely contains pyrite and its blue colour is more like traditional royal blue rather than ultramarine.
Interesting variety Hackmanite is an important variety of sodalite exhibiting tenebrescence.
