A light, relatively hard yet fragile mineral, sodalite is named after its sodium content.

- Some K substitutes for Na in the grey-white Afghan sodalites.
Colours: Usually blue, it can be grey, yellow, green, or pink and is often mottled with white veins or patches.

Special Notes

Similar to lazurite and lapis lazuli, sodalite rarely contains pyrite and its blue colour is more like traditional royal blue rather than ultramarine.
