This Tiffany Stone is several tones of purple and white and considered A grade. its geological name is opalite which is confusing as the Chinese names a synthetic opal-like glass that name. The piece is semi polished – the edges being still natural and the two sides are still matt in finish.
It is an uncommon stone found in only one mine in the USA. It is beryllium and fluorite with other minerals. Banned from amateur collection at the mine site as stocks are running out. After a trip to the USA in 2016, I can confirm this is now hard to find. We only discovered it at a mineral speciality store. This is the last tiffany stone slice left.
