Tiger Iron is definitely a crystal for both gals and guys. It is surprisingly hard to get anything in this type of crystal these days! It is made up of tiger’s eye, hematite and jasper and a quality piece clearly shows all three. This shape adds height to a collection and can be used as a wand.

We are very pleased to present Australian Tiger Iron Obelisks in a nice and practical shape. They add nice height to a crystal collection, and are lovely to hold as you work at your desk or meditate.

The tiger’s eye component is blue and golden patterning. Red/Brown jasper and hematite (grey) are the alternating layers.

While the metaphysical meaning says a tiger iron tower is a aligned to Aries, it helps many more people than that.   • Also from South Africa but not as nice and often not all three elements showing.
Tiger's Eye
  • Chatoyant - due to asbestos fibres captured in quartz
  • Part of Quartz family - more geological information.
  • Best quality is from South Africa.
  • Australia has banded tiger's eye which really is tiger iron with lots of tiger's eye.
  • Colours - Golden (most common) plus:
    • Red Tiger's Eye - some natural if you can see golden too but mostly man-heated golden tiger's eye
    • Blue Tiger's Eye - dark blue and mostly inter-mixed with golden colour
  • Artificially coloured tiger's eye through heating to different levels:
    • soft green, dark blue
  • Some will be glass. Hints that synthetic are:
    • Shape is: ball or pyramid
    • Colour is: mid to dark green, pink, mid blues, yellow, orange, white, ..
  • Where the blue colour is surrounded by the golden colour forming an eye like pattern or shape - gets the name of "falcon's eye" or "hawke's eye"
Pietersite
  • Mainly from Namibia
  • Those with good blue colour in with the browns are now hard to get as from China
    • which closed mine when 4 Dam project implemented and flooded it.
